Associates of the Geographical Institute “Jovan Cvijić” of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SASA), Dr. Ana Milanović Pešić, Dr. Suzana Lović Obradović, Dr. Jovana Brankov, Dr. Stefana Matović, and Dr. Dejana Jakovljević, participated in the International Scientific Conference “EUROGEO 2025 Conference: HUMANISING GEOGRAPHY: PEOPLE, PLACE AND SPACE IN A GLOBAL WORLD,” held at the Institute of Geography, Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics – “Ss. Cyril and Methodius” University (Skopje, North Macedonia). The event, organized by the European Association of Geographers, took place from May 16 to May 18, 2025, during which the participants presented their scientific research papers.

The colleagues from our Institute used the opportunity to learn about current trends and modern methodologies in geographical research, as well as to explore possibilities for involving our staff in projects implemented by EUROGEO.

As part of the conference, a panel session on geographical journals was held, focusing on the role of academic publishing in the field of geography. The panelists were editors of the following journals: Journal of the Bulgarian Geographical Society, European Journal of Geography, Geographical Reviews, and the Journal of the Geographical Institute "Jovan Cvijić" SASA. The session addressed topics such as peer review standards, open access publishing, and the importance of interdisciplinary research.

Representatives from our Institute, Dr. Ana Milanović Pešić and Dr. Suzana Lović Obradović, used their participation in the panel to present the Institute’s journal, the thematic areas it covers, opportunities for authors to publish their papers, and to highlight the key challenges the journal faces in the context of contemporary academic publishing.
